anything from waves to tight curls will go straight down

anything tighter than that has the possiblity to go into an afro

My advice would be not to grow it at all. I had a guy friend w/ long, black curly hair and he looked like a freak. Then he cut it and he was shockingly really gorgeous underneath all that hair!

My cousin's son has curly hair too and he grew his out and he got an afro. Maybe it has to go through an afro stage before it gets heavy enough to start laying down. If you are totally against an afro, that will be a long growth period for you to wait though.

it will more than likely drop...as in the weight of the hair will make the curl less curly - it will only turn into an afro if you brush out the curls -

use a serum on your hair or go to a modern contemporary hair salon - most have male hairdressers in there and ask them for advice on how to get it to how you would like it to be -
